Shawn is a 26-year-old geologist who recently submitted his MSc for review in Igneous petrology, with a focus on Igneous and remote sensing classification in the Karoo. Shawn was born and raised in Dundee, KZN, a small farming town surrounded by coal mines. Growing up on a farm fostered a love for the outdoors and natural environments.  Shawn attended Treverton College on an academic scholarship, which nurtured and grew his passion for the outdoors- leading to undergraduate and honours degrees in geology.

Shawn’s keen interest in the world of palaeontology took shape while working part-time at the Albany Museum Devonian fossils collection. Shawn is driven, curious and passionate about learning new skills.
