Gideon Chinamatira is a Ph.D. Candidate in Physics at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. His research work focuses on improving the quality of the X-ray computed tomography data by implementing phase contrast gratings to improve image acquisition techniques. This work is the first step in a project implementing phase contrast X-ray imaging in laboratory setups in South Africa.

Prior to his doctoral studies, Gideon holds a BSc (2017) and MSc (2019) in medical physics from the University of Zimbabwe. He also holds an MSc in Physics (2022) from the University of the Witwatersrand where he worked on computed tomography image reconstruction algorithms.
