Bukho Charles is a MSc Geology candidate at Rhodes University, Makhanda. He has a BSc (Honours) degree in Geology (2022) and an undergraduate degree in Geology and Geography (2021) from Rhodes University. Bukho has always focused on student leadership. He was a community engagement, student networking, and academic representative for Rhodes University, as well as an academic mentorship and media representative for Rhodes University Geology Society (RocSoc). He was also a member of the Rhodes University Postgraduate Conference Organising Committee and a Postgraduate Liaison Committee representative for Rhodes University Geology Department. Additionally, he founded the SingaRocka Geology Student Peer Mentorship Programme in collaboration with the Rhodes University Geology Department.
Bukho received an award for academic excellence amongst the Top 3 third-year students at Rhodes University in 2021. In 2022, he received an award of recognition from Rhodes University for being an academic mentor, an award for being an outstanding academic representative at Rhodes University, and an award of recognition from the Centre for Higher Education Research, Teaching and Learning (CHERTL) for being a Rhodes University Mentor. In addition, He received a Rhodes University Drostdy Hall 2023 Celeste Student of the Year award for his contribution to the residence/other meritorious actions, and acknowledgement and leadership awards from Rhodes University Geology Society (RocSoc) in 2023.
